The First Amendment

       In the Bill of Rights it states that the first amendment is:

        "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

      This means that Congress cant make any laws based on religion, and Congress will  not be able take away anyone's right to practice whatever religion they wish. Congress will not be able to shorten or take away our right to speak as we please, we have our right to cover stories and document stories (press) and our right to peacefully come together and protest something we do not like.


       The first amendment was created because the Founding Fathers wanted to guarantee that the basic liberties (freedoms) wont be threatened by the goverment. The first amendment includes the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition the goverment. The first amendment was ratified (made officially valid) in 1791. This amnedment was created to restrict and limit the power that the goverment has over us, also protecting the citizans and their rights. This is also given to the residents and visitors on U.S territory. The first anmedment was made by the founding fathers to guarantee that the goverment wont be able to make a law depriving them of liberty, life , and property with out due process by law.

        The first amendment means a lot to the lives of the americans. because without them it it would be like living in a dystopian society.where we would have to be told what we can and cannot do with our lives. for me it means alot to my life because with out it i wouldnt be able to say the things that i want and or the things i believe in. and im sure it would be hard for a lot of other people.
